Warm Water First Thing

Seven days. See what happens.

Hi and welcome to tiny experiments in Ayurveda! I have to start with this shift because it has been one of the most talked about by my clients. And it sounds almost too simple to be real.

Before coffee. Before breakfast. Before your phone. Just one cup of warm water.

I know what you're thinking. That's it? That's it.

In Ayurveda your digestive fire (aka agni) is at its most delicate first thing in the morning. Cold water right away is like pouring ice on a flame you're trying to build. And coffee before anything else? It spikes your cortisol, irritates your gut lining, and dehydrates you before your day has even started.

Warm water first does the opposite. It gently wakes your digestion up, hydrates your tissues, and gives your body a moment to come online before the world asks anything of it.

I had a client try this and she was so excited for the results that she told her family and friends! I'll let you discover why for yourself.

Add a slice of lemon or a little fresh ginger if you like. Plain is perfect too.

One cup. One week. See what your body tells you. 🫶🏼

The Method

When: First thing in the morning. Before coffee, breakfast, or your phone

How much: One cup (about 8oz)

Temperature: Room temperature to warm — not hot

Optional add-ins: A slice of lemon or fresh ginger, but plain is perfect too

Duration: Seven days. Notice your digestion, morning energy, and how your body feels before the day starts

Watch for: If you have acid reflux skip the lemon and go plain
